I don’t know about you, but mosquitoes and I don’t get along. I can take just one bite from those little monsters and I can’t stop itching! Even though I put anti-itch cream on them and they don’t bite or itch as much…I still think about it and focus on keeping other mosquitoes away! So I like [this] quote… Am I saying to get people excited? Of course not. But think about how many times you’ve made small changes in your life. A ‘thank you’ or a ‘good job’ could be someone passing you in traffic or hearing from a partner that they are experiencing a positive change. Look for small moments, opportunities to help someone focus on their goals or recovery. Take every minute of your day, all 1440 of them, instead of letting them pass you by… give to others and yourself. Take a minute to remind yourself that you are a change maker, amazing at what you do and who you are. Then spread a message of hope and encouragement to someone else.

Chances are good, what’s holding you back isn’t who you are, it’s what you think you’re not. It’s okay, you might stop yourself because you’re thinking, “That’s not me.” or “I’m not the type to do this, that, or anything else.”. Why is she? How do you know if you’ve never tried being one?!

What To Do When You Think Your Performance Review Is Wrong

I often stop myself from doing things because I think to myself, “Oh, this isn’t for me.” or “I can’t do that.” or “I don’t know where to start or what to do.” It seems pretty funny when I stop and think about it. I mean, who knows what to do or how to do it the first time you try it? How will I know what I want if I don’t try? The short answer is I don’t! I limit myself by thinking who I am, it’s not me who does this (it happens anyway).

From the beginning, society has taught me to deliberately limit my thinking, ignore me and put me in my place. We are all conditioned this way. We are told to fit into our “space” and not be different – different is bad. So we hold ourselves back, thinking not of who we are, but of who we are not. I know I think I’m not a brave person. I’m not special or talented enough (for what I don’t know yet). But this is not true. I am brave, but in my own way. Like I’m talented and special in my own unique way. By thinking and defining myself for what I am not, I am limiting my potential and missing out on so much.

It’s almost crazy to think – so many of us hold ourselves back because we set boundaries and definitions for ourselves that aren’t true and forget that nothing is absolute. We can constantly define and redefine ourselves, but only if we don’t hold back, if we are willing to let go of ideas of what we are not. You are the only one who allows you to be yourself and the only thing that stops you is the boundaries you set for yourself. Give it a try – I’ll do my best, why not join me?
