Challenges are good things that prevent you from being who you are, and what you think you are not. Okay, you may hold back because you think “that’s not who I am.” or “I’m not the kind of person who does this, that, or anything.”. For what? And how do you know you’re not if you’ve never tried to be?!

I often hold myself back from doing things because I think “Oh, that’s not me.” or “I can’t do that.” or “I don’t know where to start or what to do.”. It sounds silly when I stop and think about it. I mean, who knows what to do or what to do first? And how can I know what is for me or not if I don’t try? The short answer is, I don’t want to! I refrain from thinking about who I am, and I say that I am not the person to do that (whatever it is).

I deliberately limit my thinking, I think that I have been trained by people from the beginning, which means that I am young and in my place. We are all made this way. Being told to fit into our “space” and not be different – being different is bad. So we limit ourselves, not because of who we are, but because we think we are not. I know I like to think I’m not a shy person. That I am not special or good enough (unbeknownst to me). But it is not true. I’m a fan, but in my own way. Just as I am talented and unique in my own, unique way. By thinking and defining myself about things I don’t have, I limit my abilities and miss out on a lot.

It’s crazy to think about it – most of us hold ourselves back because we’ve set up false boundaries and definitions, and we forget that nothing is true. We can always define and redefine ourselves, but only if we don’t hold back and are willing to stop being what we are not. You are what you allow yourself to be, and dear, you are only held back by the limits you set for yourself. Let me try – I’ll do my best, why don’t you come with me?
