Network devices do not “fight” for their own IP address. If your server is assigned a static IP address and another server on the same physical network is assigned the same IP address, there will be an IP address conflict on the network and traffic for that IP address will go to one server or the other depending on which server is responding to ARP query of that IP address, but the server will not “fight” for that IP address.
