New ones seem to appear every day in my lawn and vegetable garden, and I don’t hesitate to spray commercial weeds. I really want the baby and puppy to be able to play on grass without having to worry about toxic chemicals, and I definitely don’t want them anywhere near any vegetables we plan to eat! Fortunately, there are many ways to get rid of weeds naturally. Here are my favorites!

Water the soil first to soften it, then pull up the grass. For dandelions and other long-rooted weeds, I like to use this aquatic weed. It attaches to your hose and shoots a small stream of water directly into the soil, pushing the soil down to the base of the root system. You can also use a butter knife or screwdriver and insert it into the soil near the root to remove soil below the surface.
