How To Get Rid Of Lice Eggs Permanently – As parents, we’ve all been there. Your child comes home from school and you notice that they are vigorously scratching their scalp, or you receive an email from the school saying that there has been an outbreak of lice in your daughter’s classroom. You rush her into the bathroom to check her scalp and yes, you see that the boys have obviously taken up residence in her hair.

Although you may feel completely alone, remember that lice are a common problem. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that there are 6 to 12 million cases of the disease in children ages 3 to 11 each year in the United States.

Get Rid Of Aphids Naturally With These 9 No Fail Solutions

While your first instinct may be to buy your first lice medication at your local drugstore, don’t! While these products may kill lice, you are also exposing your baby to harmful toxins and chemicals that can harm them. For example, neurotoxins like malathion, a common ingredient in over-the-counter lice medications, are actually insecticides that are also used to control mosquitoes. It works by interfering with chemical reactions in the nervous system, whether insect or human, and is easily absorbed through your baby’s skin and circulatory system. Potential risks and side effects of neurotoxin exposure include asthma, seizures, drowsiness, slurred speech, and skin rashes. It is simply NOT worth it when there are other ways to quickly and effectively get rid of lice.

It’s simple: all you need is a good fine metal comb and some ingredients you’ll find in your kitchen, or you can choose a natural formula made with essential oils that have been proven effective in treating lice, like Clearly FACE by Isabella.

Soak the baby’s head in olive or coconut oil. Cover with a shower cap for at least 2 hours (and preferably overnight). When you’re ready, remove the shower cap and part your hair into small sections, then carefully remove the lice and eggs with a metal rake. Wash your hair well with shampoo. Repeat this process several times until you see that the ears are gone.

Note: While oils can help suffocate lice, they won’t necessarily kill them. You can use a natural essential oil formula like Isabella’s Clearly FACE on your baby’s scalp to speed up the process and not repeat it as many times.

Can Hair Straighteners Kill Lice And Nits?

After treating with oil, wet your hair with distilled vinegar (you can also use apple cider vinegar). Although vinegar does not help suffocate adult lice, it does prevent nits (eggs) from attaching to hair shafts. Combined with thorough combing, a fine metal comb is an excellent and easy way to remove nits.

Note: You can skip this step if you are using Isabella’s Clearly FACE as it also works to remove nits (eggs) from the hair.

Vaseline is a good natural choice for lice prevention. The dense texture prevents lice from wandering and keeps them away from the scalp and hair. Simply apply a very thin layer of petroleum jelly to your baby’s scalp and leave it on until the next wash. If it’s too oily for you, you can quickly make an essential oil blend by mixing tea tree, lavender, eucalyptus or red thyme oil with a carrier oil and applying it to your baby’s scalp daily.

If you use Isabella’s Clearly FACE, which already contains all these essential oils and more, add a few drops to your baby’s scalp every morning as an ear repellant.

How To Remove Lice From Hair Permanently

Although lice can’t survive that long outside of their host, you don’t want to risk lice returning to your child’s head or latching onto someone else’s head. Be sure to clean or wash everything that has been in close contact with a person with lice (clothes, hats, pillowcases, sheets, combs and combs). If the item cannot be washed (for example, stuffed animals), place it in a sealed plastic bag and leave it for two weeks. Otherwise, wash in hot water and tumble dry. Also, be sure to vacuum the floor and furniture where lice may have started.

Although this process may require some patience, it is important to remember that by using natural products, you are taking care of yourself and your baby’s health and avoiding dangerous chemicals that can harm you. With a little work, you’ll get over it!

Parents all over the world ask me the same question: “Why is it so much harder to get rid of lice now?”
