I noticed two things while working with the grease stains. They are more common in cotton and cotton blends and are persistent. After trying quite a few stain removers, I’m starting to conclude that most grease stains won’t replace them. However, soap based cleaners do not work! What? Yes, I narrowed it down!

This stain remover is very easy to use. Simply apply to the affected area and rub together. If you leave it for a few hours, it works fine. You can throw the fabric in the wash, but you will have to treat the stain several times. If the stain is old, you will have to process it again several times. I wear cotton polo shirts at work, and even with old stains they only need to be treated once or twice.

If you let the garment sit for a few days and the grease stain remover paste dries, you can wash it as usual or spray it with plain water and soften it before washing. Because natural soap retains its natural glycerin, you may not need fabric softener. Or you can use one that doesn’t leave a waxy residue on your clothes like many commercial fabric softeners do.

If you prefer a different scent, any essential oil will work just as well. But not all essential oils are fat burners. A degreaser paste works well on its own, but added oils make it better.

If you are a soap maker, you don’t have to use bars that are thrown away or sold. I use to cut all the scraps from the bar and there are a lot of them! But oddly shaped stripes or uneven colors are perfect for this. If the soap is not too light or dark in color, the paste is much lighter than the soap. If it sits in a warm place, the soap paste can gel on you. I was in the market for a tailgate last weekend and there was space available. It works the same way either way.

The weather turned cooler this week and I was so happy to wear one of my new long sleeve shirts from Goodwill that I bought for $3. I went all day without fail… until dinner. I think there must have been coconut oil on the outside of the bucket of coconut oil I took from the cupboard because after dinner I looked in the mirror and noticed a horrible grease stain! OH MY GOD! The worst kind! In my brand new shirt! I didn’t even wear it for twelve hours and ruined it. When will I learn to cook and wear an apron?

I didn’t have the energy to deal with it that night, so I waited until the next morning. Here is what I did to remove the grease stain and restore it like new. I imagine this is a stain removal process that works for carpets too!

At this point I couldn’t tell if the stain was there or not, so I moved on to the next step.

So there was my hint. Now I want to hear from you! What’s your best stain removal trick? Let’s chat in the comments section below! Grease stains are common but must be removed. Whether you’re eating pizza, visiting an important factory, or taking a quick look at your vehicle, you can end up with a grease stain if you’re not prepared. Grease stains can ruin any article of clothing, especially lightweight ones. Oil or fat solidifies at room temperature, making it difficult to rub or wash off.

Remove excess grease by wiping the fabric with a paper towel or tissue. Sprinkle some baking soda on the fabric and let it sit for a day.

Brush off the baking soda with a toothbrush and spray some vinegar on the stain. Scrub with warm soapy water with a brush and rinse.

Oil spills or splashes happen when you try to become a champion. Fortunately, lime absorbs oil very effectively. First, pat with a cloth to remove grease stains. Now cover all the stain on it with chalk. Let the lime absorb the fat. Wash the fabric after an hour.

Sprinkle baby powder/cornstarch (depending on availability) on the tin. Let them sit for a while to absorb the oil. Now wash the powder with a toothbrush and wash with warm soapy water.

If the above methods do not help, you can try washing the stain. But a dryer can make things worse and cause the stain to stick even more because of the heat. In these situations, you can spray WD-40 on the stain and leave it for a few minutes. Then wash with warm soapy water to remove the stain.
