This is why injecting antibiotics is often ineffective. They kill only visible workers, but after a while new workers come back and take their place. However, when you use insect bait instead, the workers will feed on the bait and carry it back to the nest to feed the queen.

Slow-acting insecticides are best for this because it gives workers time to inject the poison back into the colony before it dies.

One good thing about a large worm diet is that it gives you many options in choosing the bait to use. Protein or sugar bait bases loaded with pesticides are much better.

It is good to use two types of bait at once – one with sugar and one with protein.

How To Destroy A Carpenter Ant Nest

You should place bait near their colonies if you can see them, or next to their tracks. Often more visible at night, one place to look for trails is around electrical wires and plumbing pipes.

You can also buy an insect repellent that comes as a compressed gel so you can apply it directly to cracks in paving stones or foundations.

It may take two weeks or more to control the infestation using a trap. Fortunately, insects are more sensitive than humans or pets to the low levels of pesticides in these products. However, you should be careful when using any chemicals around your property or in your home.
