Today I’m really open with all of you as I share one of my most difficult insecurities. This is not what I thought I would write here, but I know that sharing my insecurities can do two great things: 1. Encourage someone to be vulnerable and face their insecurities. 2. It will allow me to experience freedom.

So what is my biggest insecurity, you ask? My biggest insecurity is my teeth. Growing up, dentists often said I had a big mouth and needed braces. My family wanted to be able to afford braces for me and my two sisters, but it was not financially affordable. When I was in high school, my teeth really started to bite. While I want to keep my teeth straight in the future, I am learning to embrace myself as I am now. 1. Learn to accept yourself // I start with the most important step in the process of overcoming your insecurities – you must learn to accept yourself. Accepting yourself and what you see as a mistake or imperfection is important not only to overcome your insecurities, but to live a happy life. By preventing yourself from accepting yourself as you are, you are preventing yourself from loving yourself. This is fair. It’s okay to feel insecure, but don’t let yourself be there. Most of your insecure moments are something you have the power to change. Know your feelings, accept yourself, love yourself, and then find ways to fix that insecurity.
